Welcome

"Thanks to the Scheme I have enriched my knowledge, learned about London and its institutions, and met friends who are interested in similar fields to me."

The Mansion House Scholars scheme provides scholarships in support of overseas students for training and work experience in the United Kingdom's financial services industry.

The roots of the Mansion House Scholarship Scheme can be traced back to 1997, when Sir Richard Nichols, then Lord Mayor in the City of London, was particularly impressed during his overseas visits by the high regard in which the City is held by foreign business communities and by the number of students who wished to study in the UK in schools and colleges through business attachments, executive exchanges, and management training.

Mansion HouseA number of government and academic organisations already provided funds to assist with this, as do a number of companies, but Sir Richard believed that the mayoralty could itself make a distinct contribution - a fund from which his successors could offer training and travel assistance, bursaries, and other financial assistance on behalf of the City.

Now firmly established, the Scheme supports the funding of students from overseas taking Masters level degree courses at British Universities or to enable business trainees or officials to undertake study or training in financial and related business activities. This training generally takes place in London, but is flexible depending on requirements.
